My father was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) on his 28th birthday in May of 1988. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a 100% fatal neuromuscular disease. It kills nerve cells and deteriorates muscle tissue, which makes simple tasks such as walking and eating become increasingly difficult and then impossible as the body’s muscles waste away. Patients are given an average of 2-5 years to live, and to this day there is no known cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease.

My father Bryan Eklund has defied all odds and battled ALS for 28 years. He refuses to let Lou Gehrig’s disease take away his power and I refuse to stand by and wait for a cure. I want every family struggling from ALS to know that they are not in this battle alone and that together we can make a difference and create a world without ALS.

For this reason I am hosting a golf tournament called “Swing Fore A Cure,” Saturday August 15th, 2015 at the Oak Run Golf Course in Dahinda, Illinois. This tournament raises funds for The ALS Association, creates awareness and gives us all a sense of hope, and this is where I need your help. I am in need of donations toward this cause and sponsorship for the tournament. All donations will be used as prizes for golfers, silent auction items, or raffle items. All proceeds from the tournament go directly to The ALS Association to help fund medical research, provide assistance to people battling Lou Gehrig’s disease, and much more.

If you’d like to participate in the golf tournament and play for a worthy cause it’d be wonderful to have your support. It will be a super ball tournament with a shot gun start at 8 am. It is an amazing opportunity to have fun and show your support for all families affected by ALS.
