This October, I will run with Team Challenge ALS in the 2021 Chicago Marathon. It's an honor to train and race with this group as we raise funds and awareness to fuel the fight against this terrible disease, which impacts so many families worldwide including my own.
What is ALS? | ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. There is no cure for ALS yet.
About the ALS Association | The ALS Association's mission is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. The Association provides much-needed patient services resources, funds cutting-edge research globally, and does so much more in order to help those living with ALS right in our community.
WAYS TO SUPPORT
Challenging ALS is incredibly important to me, and I (along with the rest of Team Challenge ALS) need your help. I am so appreciative of your support in any way that you choose to share it.
V's Marathon Jukebox
A brief level-set: I made my last good running playlist in 2013, and 26.2 miles is a heck of a lot of songs. So, I'm asking for your help to compile a marathon "jukebox" (Spotify playlist) of all-time greats to fuel training, racing, and beyond in the fight against ALS. I would love to carry you each with me on race day, whether listening to your #1 workout jam, a tune capturing a shared memory for us, or the favorite song of your loved one who I can run in honor of.
Here's how it works:
- Suggested donation is $5 per song. If you are inclined and able to make a donation, you can do so by clicking the "Donate Now" button on the right or via the printable form linked below.
- If donating online, please include your song title(s) and artist(s) in Section 2 ("Send a Little Note") of your donation form.
- If donating via printable form or sharing songs without a donation, please email, text, or message me your song title(s) and artist(s).
Whether for one mile or 20. If running isn't your thing, or you're reading this from somewhere outside of Chicago, your inspirational quotes and messages would mean the world.
