ALS Awareness Month

2022 ALS Awareness Month Banner

May is ALS Awareness Month, an opportunity for the ALS community to work together to help educate people about this devastating disease and shine a spotlight on the impact ALS has on families.

Will you help? Here are eight easy ways you can help us raise awareness this month and beyond.

Make a donation. Large or small, every dollar for the ALS community will make a difference in the lives of so many. Thanks to an anonymous donor, your gift during the month of May will be matched – up to $50,000 – to support local individuals and families living with ALS.

Share what you know. Sharing facts about ALS via infographics and videos will help others understand just how devastating this disease is for those who are diagnosed and their families.

Get Social. Follow us on our social channels: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Like and share our facts and stories this month with your networks and help spread awareness of ALS. And don’t forget to use the hashtags #ALS, #ALSAwareness and #WhateverItTakes.

Tell YOUR story. Have you been personally touched by ALS? Let your voice be heard. Whether it’s local media, social media or just events you attend, tell people why you’re helping to fight ALS. And if you’d like US to share your story, email us at samantha@alsachicago.org.

Become an advocate. Join us virtually on the hill or register online with our Advocacy Action Center. Sign up to be an ALS advocate to help fight for change for the ALS community.

Up for a challenge? Register for an event near you TODAY! Whether you want to walk, run, or something all your own, your participation will help spread awareness and support for families fighting ALS. On June 2nd, cheer on the Cubs or the Cardinals at Wrigley Field for MLB’s Lou Gehrig Day. On June 4th, Walk to Defeat ALS at Cantigny Park in Wheaton.

Catch up on the latest news. Sign up for our e-newsletter or get the latest research updates monthly! You can also listen to the ALS Association's podcast, Connecting ALS, or tune into the Chapter's twice monthly livestream, Season's Sunflower Hour. On May 10th, join us for our Living Well with ALS series for updates on AL S Research going on at the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter Certified Treatment Centers of Excellence.

Extra time on your hands? Come volunteer with us! Without the hard work and commitment of individuals around the country who graciously give their time to help support the ALS community, we would not be able to do what we do every day.

It will take all of us, together, doing whatever it takes, to end ALS.
