ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Progress
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, a Memorial ALS Pickleball Tournament for Ron Sullivan will be held at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 10720 N. Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61615. Tournament begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude around 5 p.m.
This will be a two-person team round-robin type tournament. Entry deadline is September 22, 2023 and is limited to 32 teams. Registration is $40 per person. All proceeds from this tournament will go to ALS Association, Greater Chicago Chapter of which Peoria is a part.
ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. At this time there is no known cause or cure for this debilitating disease. Ron Sullivan passed away from this disease in 2021. A pickleball tournament has been planned in order to keep his memory alive and to raise money to help others battling this disease and to help find a cure.
